The Youth Shooting Program is an 8 week instructional class for students 18 years old and younger. In addition to stressing safety, the class focuses on fundamental rifle marksmanship by teaching the steady hold factors for field position shooting (prone, sitting, kneeling and standing). Additional concepts include: the 6 steps of firing a shot; sling use as a stability aid; Natural Point of Aim; and zeroing your rifle using inches, minutes and clicks.

We will utilize NRA A-17 targets which will give students the opportunity to pursue the NRA Marksmanship / Winchester qualification awards. If students already participates in the Winchester program, they can continue their advancement with this course. Since the course builds on the previous week’s instruction it is imperative that students do not miss class. The first class is mandatory and if students can’t attend these first classes, they will not be able to proceed with the rest of the course.

The course is for rimfire (22 LR) only and ammunition will be provided for all students. Students are welcome to bring their own rifles if they have them. If not, the club will have loaner equipment available. Additional information will be provided at signup. We look forward to teaching the next generation of marksmen.

Please contact Randy Thieme with any questions and to register up your child for this program. Class size is limited to 12 students.

The range will be closed to regular use during these events.
