Our history

The Chehalem Valley Sportsman Club was formed in the 1960's by a group of like minded shooting enthusiasts for the purpose of providing a safe setting for target shooting, a fellowship of sportsmen and to promote the safe constitutional and legal use of firearms.

The Club is incorporated under the laws of the State of Oregon and is affiliated with the National Rifle Association and the Civilian Marksmanship Program. Membership is open to any legal resident of the United States of America without regard to race, creed, color, religion, sex, national origin or age (if age 18 or older). Membership in the National Rifle Association is a prerequisite for club membership.

The Club's facilities include a 100-yard rifle range and six short-range bays for exclusive rim fire and handgun use. The rifle range has six covered shooting benches with target frames at 25, 50 and 100 yards. The six pistol bays have portable target frames and other equipment for organized training and matches. Five bays have covered shooting areas. Our newest addition is two covered conex rimfire and pistol bays for all season shooting.

Members may use the facilities during daylight hours, when organized matches are not using the range. Members are issued a key to the locked entrance gate and must keep the premises secure at all time. Up to three guests may accompany the member and enjoy the use of the range under the responsibility of the host member. Range safety rules are issued to each member and are posted at various places at the range.
